Consultants to Help with the Implementation and Recognition of Demand-Driven Standards and Grades for SSPs and Primary-Level Aggregators. Title: Use and recognition of demand-driven standards and grades extended to SSPs and primary-level aggregators Project: Horticulture for Growth Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with project-related in-country travel Timing. 60 days with a possible start day of March 27, 2023 Reports to: H4G Analytics Manager, with Indirect reporting line to H4G Senior Program Manager Objective: The general objective of the consultancy is to develop demand-driven standards and grades for small-scale horticulture crop producers and primary level aggregators by conduct an audit of existing standards in use, including engaging with the MOA and meeting with commercial farms to understand the additional agronomic and postharvest handling practices that they employ to meet high-end market standards. Develop a demand-driven training curriculum for traders and wholesalers on key topics in quality standards, as well as business and management skills. Specific objective is: Conduct an audit of existing standards in use, including engaging with the MOA and meeting with commercial farms to understand the additional agronomic and postharvest handling practices that they employ to meet high-end market standards. Supplement data with our own understanding of industry standards and develop a demand-driven training curriculum for traders and wholesalers on key topics in quality standards. Deliver trainings to segmented training cohorts of traders and wholesalers Certify trained actors to position their enterprise as a preferred supplier of training on more basic business skills delivered to less mature businesses) on key topics in quality standards and business and management skills (e.g.. quality horticultur Host workshops to educate end-buyers on the benefits of working with this pool of preferred suppliers who understand their product needs, which typically leads to a price premium in high-end markets. Scope of Work market systems development in ACC woredas 10,500 small-scale farmers The project will benefit 70,000 small-scale households through horticulture will be addressed by private sector. 40% of the project beneficiaries would be women. The fruits and vegetable crops of primary interest are; avocado, banana, mango, onion and tomato. RFP seeks to conduct an audit of existing use and recognition of demanddriven standards and grades extended to SSPs and primary-level aggregators. Based on the audits results the consultant will develop training curriculum for traders and wholesalers on key topics in quality standards. Deliver trainings to segmented training cohorts of traders and wholesalers on key topics in quality standards and business and management skills. Certify trained actors to position their enterprise as a preferred supplier of quality horticulture.
